First Communion

Today was a very special day in our lives. We celebrated Mark's First Eucharist. He looked so handsome in his suit and did a great job. We followed it up with a party at our house. It was great to spend the day with family.

They are getting so tall!!!

With Nana and Papa - Lots of other family joined us - but we got lazy with the camera once we got back to the house. Oops.

And a sidebar -
Today is also Chris' 37th birthday. I asked him this morning how does it feel? He replied it feels a lot closer to 40. UGH - that is true. We are getting up there in age. I gave him Coldplay tickets so we may be getting old but we still like cool music.

Busy Spring

Time for some catchup blogging!

Spring Break was spent at home this year with some really crappy weather but we had a day here or there that was nice. Go-carts, Zoo and an autograph session were the highlights. Here's a picture of Matt and Mark with Edgar Sosa - they also met Terrence Jennings and Jerry Smith from UofL's basketball team.

Matt and I spent an entire Friday night building a Mars Rover. It had several moving parts and was Matt's design - I helped with the assembly and spray painting. Although my car is the same color, I didn't want to know if the spray paint was an exact match. This was mainly crafted by things ordinary people have at home. I'm not ordinary so we had to actually buy some of the items. My rule is if I'm not using it, get rid of it. Spray paint and a glue gun are incredible items. Here are some pictures of our finished Rover.

Easter was a great weekend of family fun. My parents convinced 9 teenagers or 20 somethings to hunt eggs. I thought that was brilliant. It was fun to see them running around again looking for the "big" eggs. We didn't see many of the Bells but got to catch up with family we rarely see. All in all a good weekend. Here's a picture of half the kids.

#3 on The List

Today our documents have been in Thailand 10 months. We started this process 14 months ago.

We also received our quarterly update. We are #3 on The List. Barring an extremely small referral group or a referral group without girls, (neither of which I will think about until it happens) we will get our referral in June. While more waiting is an initial bummer, it takes only a glance at the babies who did get referred to their families to remember what this is all about.

Eventually, there will be no more wait, eventually it will be like Mia was always here and we will forget what life was like before this princess came into our life.

In the meantime - we'll celebrate with families who got referrals, we'll celebrate with families who travel to bring their child (or children) home and we'll learn more Thai!
